Facilitators of Upskill Educational Initiative programs are dynamic education professionals who bring a blend of practical classroom experience, pedagogical expertise, and a passion for teacher development. These individuals are critical to the success of our programs, serving as mentors, instructional leaders, and role models for our learners.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree; advanced degrees in education are preferable.
  • At least 3 years of facilitation and training using adult learning approaches.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Nigeria’s education and school systems.
  • Awareness of current developments and trends in teacher education.
  • Knowledge and understanding of international education and qualification frameworks is also a plus
  • Proven experience mentoring teachers or leading professional development sessions is an advantage.
  • Skilled in learner engagement, instructional design, and assessment strategies 
  • Familiarity with contemporary pedagogical practices, including learner-centered approaches and classroom management strategies e.t.c.

    • Instructional Expertise: Ability to model effective teaching strategies aligned with national curriculum standards and global best practices.
    • Classroom Simulation & Coaching: Skilled in guiding participants through real-life teaching scenarios, microteaching sessions, and feedback loops.
    • Professionalism & Ethics: Demonstrates a strong ethical foundation, effective communication skills, Strong facilitation and commitment to high standards in education.
    • Reflective Practice: Able to guide teachers in evaluating their own teaching and fostering continuous growth.
    • Curriculum Understanding: Familiar with curriculum design, lesson planning, and assessment techniques.
    • Supportive Mentorship: Encourages and inspires teachers to build confidence, resilience, and professional identity.

    Use of ICT: Proficiency in using digital tools and shared virtual spaces for learning and teaching (e.g., Zoom, PowerPoint, learning management systems e.t.c)

Desirable

  • Engagement with academic research or industry trends related to teaching and learning
  • Experience working in a school environment for at least 5 years (for non-graduates of education)
  • Knowledge and ability to use and apply other Nigerian languages in the teaching context

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and adapt Upskill’s Training curriculum and materials to deliver structured training sessions.
  • Facilitate interactive workshops, classroom simulations, and reflective activities.
  • Observe teaching practice sessions and provide constructive feedback.
  • Promote a culture of inquiry, collaboration, and lifelong learning among course participants.
  • Evaluate participants’ performance and contribute to course assessments.
